Amazing Max Effort Week Results

This week is pretty stressful for a host of different reasons, I'd imagine the biggest for most people is the election. Thankfully, that entire season is now behind us and we can move on. I highly recommend getting in a good sweat session to get rid of some stress. Whether that is in a CrossFit box or just getting out and going for a run, both will help you feel better and give you some much needed endorphins today. Also, if you were like me and stayed up really late watching election coverage, I recommend a nap. Lack of sleep is problematic for a number of reasons, and weight gain is certainly one of them. Now, onto the much more important news coming out of Summit Strength & CrossFit SSP. It's max effort week! Every 8-12 weeks we test our athletes to see if the programming is getting the desired adaptation for our community. I can happily report that we are seeing awesome improvements. Actually, we retested just slightly quicker than usual (most of the group last maxed out 6 or 7 weeks ago) because we are starting a new, long term program which is based entirely on percentages and needs to be planned out really well.

So far, I've been blown away by the results of our athletes. All of them have done great and we have seen everyone's numbers improve. Matt Bradley is our featured athlete, however. He made a 40 pound jump from 285 to 325 in the back squat in six weeks. This is a guy who hadn't worked out since high school when he joined in March. He has made such incredible strides. Additionally, he cleaned over 200 pounds last night after having never done a full clean before. Matt is a fantastic example of what you can do when you show up consistently, work hard, and have a positive outlook. He's in here 4-5 times almost every week while juggling a busy job and coaching high school basketball. Good job, Matt!
