Wandering Web – Food Plans and Fitness

This article was a straightforward, easy to follow plan to consistently get healthy meals on the table for you and your family. Ashley does a great job of understanding that people have a busy life full of family, job, and extracurricular commitments, and makes meal planning actually make sense for once:

When we first opened Summit Strength, I was letting people regress the pushup to kneeling pushups, but quickly read a few good articles about why that isn’t a good idea. The main point is that in order to do a pushup, you must have solid core strength, and by bending your knees you cannot train core stability. Here, this article talks about how it can even be dangerous to do kneeling pushups:

If there is one thing I think we can all agree on, it is that food is delicious and eating tends to be pretty enjoyable. The problem with this is obvious, however: eat too much and you’ll gain unhealthy body fat. While some of these tricks seem simple, they are researched and proven to help you not overeat:

Juggernaut Training Systems is one of the leading companies in the strength and conditioning world, and they have created an awesome explanation of how to warm up correctly for the deadlift. Without a proper warmup, you will never reach your full fitness potential, not to mention that warming up properly keeps you safe during the workout. Expect to see some of these ideas implemented at CrossFit SSP in the future:

Speaking of food, the fact that guacamole is considered a health food has to be among the seven wonders of the world. I haven't seen an innovative recipe for guacamole that actually looks good in a long time, but this one really does. Any excuse I can get to eat Mexican food is one I happily accept:
