JJ Watt Dominates this Week’s Wandering Web

JJ Watt eats a diet that is really just incredible. He eats an absolute insane amount of food, and by posting this I am not recommending you do the same. He also works out at least twice a day, nearly every day, and weighs 290 pounds. Suffice it to say that his metabolism is much higher than the average human. Still, it is worth noting that you should be treating food as fuel. Use it fuel your body and your workouts, and you’ll see results:

In keeping with our JJ Watt theme, here is an interesting article on his workouts. Notice above when I mentioned JJ Watt’s diet and how you really should not be following his lead unless you are doing workouts like this:

This is a longer article geared at coaches, but it also is good for athletes to read and understand what a coach is looking for in the hollow hold and arch hold. Until you can master these two positions, it is not smart to start kipping. Clearly, to do movements such as toes to bar, pull ups during a WOD, muscle ups, etc. you need to know how to kip. Therefore, we must all understand and be able to execute a hollow body hold and an arch hold:

Here is a fact that is going to blow your mind: according to John Adams, one of this country’s founding fathers, Independence Day is supposed to be celebrated on July 2, not July 4. Also, apparently it was not actually adopted as a national holiday until 1870. Thankfully, Americans have been celebrating our Independence for many, many years, and we all get to enjoy the fireworks, barbecues, and family get togethers that mark one of my favorite holidays:

I have such high respect for rugby players. If I could go back and do it all over again, I really think I would have tried to play a more physical sport like that. Thankfully, it is back in the Olympics this year with Rugby Sevens. Sevens is a much faster rendition of the sport, and I love watching it. In this article, two stars of the United States’s team talk about their preparation, workouts, and diet:
